En la base (estacionamiento) del centro de esquí del Cerro Catedral se encuentra un cartel con el nombre del refugio. Se comienza a caminar por un camino de vehículos los primeros 300 mts. hasta encontrar el desvío que comunica con la senda principal.
Se cruzan algunos arroyos primero, una zona de bosque quemado y se observa parte del lago Gutiérrez. Se rodea el cerro y se remonta el valle del arroyo Van Titter. Se cruza el desvío a Villa Los Coihues para encontrar el puente que cruza el arroyo mencionado. Se continúa hasta el refugio vivac Piedritas y desde ahí al refugio Frey.
Dificultad: Fácil / Media. (De diciembre a abril).
Distancia: 10 km
Desnivel: 700 msnm.
Tiempo de marcha: De 4 a 6 hs.
Modo de acceso: Micro de línea empresa 3 de Mayo “CERRO CATEDRAL”, (Calle Moreno 480).
Servicios del refugio: Gastronomía, (desayunos, almuerzos, meriendas, cenas), pernocte y excursiones guiadas de variada dificultad.
Refugio Frey (Cerro Catedral):
At the southern (left-hand) end of the main car park at the Cerro Catedral ski center you will find a placard marked Refugio Frey. 300m after leaving the car park you will come to the main trailhead to Frey marked with another placard. The path begins crossing various streams, passing through an area of burnt forest with a view over Lago Gutiérrez. It continues on circling around the mountain and enters the valley of Arroyo (stream) Van Titter. After passing a trail that leads down to Villa Los Coihues you will cross the Van Titter river and begin climbing up the valley, passing the Piedritas shelter, to get finally after 1 hour, Refugio Frey.

Desde el lugar denominado “Tambo” comienza la senda. Después de caminar 800 mts. Se ingresa dentro de un bosque alto de Coihues y pronto se desciende hasta la margen del arroyo Casa de Piedra, el cual queda sobre nuestra izquierda hasta llegar a un puente colgante que permite el cruce. A partir de ahí, el arroyo queda sobre nuestra derecha. Se continúa hasta un bosque alto desde donde empieza a subir lentamente el desnivel hasta encontrar nuevamente el arroyo, una escalerita metálica y cuerda. Se vadea el arroyo para luego caminar los últimos 45 min. y así acceder al refugio.
Dificultad: Fácil/ Media. (De diciembre a abril).

Desnivel: 800 msnm
Tiempo de marcha: De 5 a 7 hs.
Modo de acceso: Micro de línea N° 11 (solo en Enero y Febrero) o con reservas previas desde Pto. Moreno km 10 Av. Bustillo.

Refugio San Martín - Laguna Jakob:
The trail to Refugio San Martín begins at a place known as “Tambo”. 800m on the trail enters a forest of tall Coihue trees and then descends steeply to the banks of the Arroyo Casa de Piedra. Keep the river on your left until you reach a suspension bridge and cross over. From this point continue following the river, now on your right, until you again enter tall forest and begin slowly climbing. When you come across the river again and reach a metal ladder and a rope, cross the river and continue on for a further 45 minutes to reach the Refugio.
Difficulty: Easy / Medium. (The December to April).
Distance: 18km
Elevation gain: 800m
Walking time: From 5 to 7 hours

Pasando Colonia Suiza y antes de cruzar el arroyo Goye, donde hay una puerta de entrada con carteles indicadores, se empieza el tránsito sobre un camino vehicular rodeado de Coihues. Luego de un primer ascenso se une a un antiguo camino vehicular invadido por pinos. Se transita cruzando cañadones con arroyos hasta acercarse al principal “Arroyo Goye”. Desde allí la vegetación es alta y con mallines hasta encontrar una zona amplia dentro del bosque, “Rancho Manolo”. A partir de aquí el desnivel empieza a subir lentamente. Se cruza mas arriba el arroyo para encontrar la zona con mayor pendiente y acceder al refugio.

Refugio Italia - Laguna Negra:
The entrance and placard for trail to Laguna Negra are located on the road exiting Colonia Suiza before the bridge over Arroyo Goye. The trail begins as an old vehicle track amongst Coihue and pine trees, and after a small initial climb begins crossing over canyons and steams until you reach the main Arroyo Goye. From there it continues through tall mallín type vegetation until you come to a large area known as the "Rancho Manolo". From this point the altitude begins to increase and you will start to climb up above the river crossing rocky terrain, finally hiking up the steepest part to access the Refugio.

El camino de acceso al mismo recorre tres kilómetros y cincuenta metros de desnivel, de un trayecto casi plano desde la seccional del Guardaparques de Pampa Linda hasta el río Castaño Overa, al cual se lo cruza por un puente peatonal.
Desde allí se emprende el ascenso por el mismo camino a través de un faldeo de montaña de aproximadamente seis kilómetros y 500 metros de desnivel hasta llegar a la cima del morro, lugar denominado La Almohadilla.
A partir de ese punto, el trayecto continúa con menor pendiente en dirección oeste, y luego de caminar unos 2 kilómetros y 150 metros de desnivel, se llega al Descanso de los Caballos, ubicado justo en el límite de la vegetación.
Desde este punto se emprende la parte final del ascenso, transitando unos 3 kilómetros y 350 metros de desnivel, a través de un filo ya sin vegetación y con marcas de pintura sobre las piedras que indican el recorrido hasta el refugio.
Dificultad: Fácil / Media. (De diciembre a abril).

Modo de acceso: Expreso Meiling. 08:30 hs desde CAB

Refugio Otto Meiling (Monte Tronador)
The first section of the route to reach Refugio Otto Meiling is almost flat and begins from the Guardaparques of Pampa Linda (Pampa Linda rangers). After a 3km walk and only a 50m gain in elevation, you will arrive at a footbridge crossing the Río Castaño Overa. After crossing the river a 500m climb over a distance of 6km begins which brings you to the top of a hill at a place called La Almohadilla (The Pillow). From there, the trail continues on more gently in a westerly direction arriving after 2km at the limit of the vegetation (a further gain in height of 150m) at a point known as the Descanso de los Caballos (The Rest of the Horses). From there you will begin the final ascension to the Refugio, 3km further trekking with a gain of 350m in height along a ridge above the vegetation line; follow the markers painted on rocks to the shelter of Refugio Otto Meiling.
Difficulty: Easy / Medium. (The December to January).

En la base del Cerro Catedral se encuentra el Club Andino Bariloche, institución tradicional reconocida como alma mater en la promoción y desarrollo de las actividades de montaña; tradicional porque allí se han formado los mejores esquiadores y montañistas de la Argentina. Allí el CAB creó el Refugio Reynaldo Knapp, como lugar de descanso para los esquiadores y montañistas. 
En lo alto de un promontorio, último punto rocoso antes de entrar en la zona glaciar del Tronador en su vertiente sur, se encuentra el Refugio "viejo" del Tronador.
En el Km. 1 de Av. de los Pioneros, frente a una estación de servicio nace el camino principal a la cumbre del Cerro Otto. A 100 mts. sobre el lado izquierdo comienza la senda marcada y en ascenso, la cual lleva a encontrar nuevamente el camino principal. Se pasa por el Centro Invernal Piedras blancas para después de caminar 1 km. más llegar al refugio.
Dificultad: Fácil. (Todo el año).
Distancia: 7 km.
Desnivel: 600 msnm.
Tiempo de marcha: De 2 a 2:45 hs.

Refugio Berghof (Cerro Otto)
The road leading to the summit of Cerro Otto begins opposite the petrol station located at Km1 of Av. de los Pioneres. 100m to the left also begins a walking and biking trail which later links up with the road near the top. You will pass the winter activities centre Piedras Blancas 1km before reaching the Refugio.
Difficulty: Easy. (All year).
Distance: 7km
Elevation gain: 600m
Walking time: From 2 to 2 ¾ hours
Access: Local bus (3 de Mayo) numbers 50 or 51 until km1 of Av. de los Pioneros or own vehicle
A 5 km de Bariloche, por la Ruta Nac. 40 y dando la vuelta a la izquierda por una rotonda, después de recorrer un kilómetro y medio, se entra en un camino de ripio. Se pasa por el complejo Challhuaco. Desde allí se continúan 9 km. por camino de montaña y luego de cruzar diferentes arroyos se llega al refugio, el cual cuenta con cuatro sendas para visitar en familia y tres para trekkers.
Distancia: 19 km. desde el centro de la ciudad.
Modo de acceso: transporte particular o consultar al 428995 también por excursiones.
Servicios del refugio: cerveza casera, picadas, comidas regionales y repostería casera.
Refugio Neumeyer (Valle del Challhuaco)
Take the southbound Ruta 40 out of Bariloche and after 5km turn left at the roundabout. Follow the ripio (rubble road) for 3km to reach the Challhuaco complex car park. From there a 9km walk crossing various streams leads to Refugio Neumeyer. From the Refugio there are a number of trails; some are suitable for families.
Distance: 19km from the centre of Bariloche

Services at Refugio: House beer, snacks, traditional foods of the region and homemade desserts
Ubicación: A una hora de Bariloche, sobre las costas del lago Mascardi y río Manso.
Se llega en 45 minutos de viaje bordeando los lagos Gutierrez y Mascardi por la ruta 40 hasta el km 37 (villa Mascardi) donde se gira hacia la derecha tomando el camino que conduce al Co. Tronador y Casada de los Alerces.
Luego del puente que cruza el río Manso, a 8 km de este, se encuentra el camping
Servicios del Camping: 6 hectáreas arboladas para acampar, playas de arena sobre el lago Mascardi y costa sobre el Río Manso. El área de acampe cuenta con fogones y toma corriente. El edificio principal cuenta con servicio de comedor, proveeduría, kiosco y albergue.
El albergue consta de dos habitaciones grandes comunitarias, con cuchetas y almohadas.
Camping and Shelter Los Rápidos
Location: One hour from Bariloche on the shores of Lago Mascardi and Río Manso. The journey from Bariloche passes Lagos Gutiérrez and Mascardi on a section of Ruta 40 until km37 at Villa Mascardi, 45 minutes from Bariloche; there one turns right taking the road for Cerro Tronador and the Casada (waterfall) de los Alerces. After reaching the bridge that crosses Río Manso continue on for a further 8km to reach the campsite.
Campamento Móvil Paso de Las Nubes
El camino de acceso al mismo, recorre tres kilómetros y cincuenta metros de desnivel de un trayecto casi plano desde la seccional del Guardaparques de Pampa Linda hasta el río Castaño Overa, al cual se lo cruza por un puente peatonal, luego hay que tomar a la derecha una senda visible que baja hasta el valle del río Alerce, más adelante se lo cruza dejándolo a la izquierda para ingresar dentro de una zona mallinosa y si árboles. Al final del valle comienza el bosque dentro del cual se asciende hacia el Paso de las Nubes, se desciende hasta llegar al pie del Glaciar Frías, donde se encuentra el campamento móvil para pasar la noche.
Al día siguiente se continúa por la margen derecha del río Frías, la picada es visible. Después de caminar cuatro horas es necesario cruzar el río, para recorrer el último tramo de una hora más hasta llegar a Puerto Frías, desde donde sale la lancha para regresar a Puerto Blest y desde allí combinar con la navegación a Puerto Pañuelo.

Distancia: 35 km
Desnivel: 450 msnm
Tiempo de marcha: 11 hs. (Dos días)
Modo de acceso: Expreso Meiling. 08:30 hs. desde CAB hasta Pampa Linda

Field Camp (Campamento Móvil) at Paso de Las Nubes
The route to reach the camp site at the Paso de Las Nubes begins with an almost flat section from the Guardaparques of Pampa Linda (Pampa Linda rangers) using the first section of the route to Refugio Otto Meiling: 3km walking and a 50m gain in elevation brings you to a footbridge crossing the Río Castaño Overa. After crossing the river you must take the path to the right which leads down to the valley of Río Alerce; there keep the river to your left and you will enter a treeless area with mallín type vegetation. At the end of the valley you will enter a forest and start climbing up towards the Paso de los Nubes; from the top descend to reach the base of Glaciar Frías and find the camp site. To make a circuit back to Bariloche continue on (the next day) following Río Frias (keep it to your left). After four hours cross the river and continue on for a further hour to arrive at Puerto Frías. From there boats depart to Llao Llao’s Puerto Pañuelo, from where you can take local bus (3 de Mayo) number 20 back to Bariloche.

Ubicación: Pampa Linda, base Monte Tronador. Se accede una vez que se pasa el camping Los Rápidos, recorriendo 30 km más por el mismo camino.

Location: Pampa Linda, at the base of Monte Tronador. Accessed by passing Camping Los Rápidos and continuing a further 30km on the same road.
